Justicar could still feel the wave of exhaustion tearing her apart within, after she'd been brought back to the den by her dear Queen there had been a promise that they would talk about just what was going on with her. But the very concept of explaining her nightmares to someone so dear was causing her no end of agony about it; she'd been brought back shoulder to shoulder by the smaller lady and set down in the grass. And the scent of Syl still lingered around her in a way that had actually forced her mind to shut down enough for her to get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep, more than she'd had in quite some time but not quite enough to quell the shadows of the dead hovering around her. Perhaps she had finally gone crazy? Or perhaps she truly needed to continue to rest and to eat again. But there was one thing she could not do here, and that was sit around and waits whilst the queen went and caught her rabbit. That was just wrong, how could someone so pure- and so strong even care for the failings of someone so far beneath her. Antics had been correct even if she'd taken offense to a minor joke; it was worrisome to know that she'd given Syledia a weakness to her growing strength. Without dividing and cutting away those weakest from you- surely things would fall to ruin? Like Decorum had been washed away with disease and who knows what end of things. She frowned deeply as she looked around, her mind beginning to once again play tricks on the unsuspecting bitch. She could see it now- the carrion were surrounding her, begging her for aid - their bones picked clean by the vultures long ago. A paradise for the long dead. Screaming at her, and making her ears ring so hard she feared losing her hearing. Snapping her eyes shut and then open again seemed to clear it up- but the feeling persisted the longer she remained inactive. The distortion of her mind's exhaustion painted the lush green and prospering den into something more akin to a dry-land. Yellowed and dead like so many things she'd loved. Shaking furiously she rose from her spot with a wobble as she tried to keep her balance. And she began to move out of the den cautiously, she needed to get away for a bit- to the river? Quickly and back before Syledia could return to find her absent from where she'd been salvaged. Couldn't risk upsetting her further as Kari's heart couldn't take hurting her in any way further, being useless was one thing- but being disobedient? She drags herself towards the river and slumps down beside it, dunking her mouth into it before actually managing to right herself and begin drinking from it.
Prodigy's wanderings and slightly off kilter mind had kept him from going straight to the pack like he had been told to do. He was going towards it though, so he wasn't technically being disobedient eh? Paws took him to continue up the river slowly, humming a tune that he had learned from Miat. Paws didn't so much walk, they seemed to dance and swish through the grass and muddy bank, continuing his tune until he heard a slight disturbance in the waters. Head lifted and tilted to the side slightly, mohawk of hair falling into his eye until he shook his head and got a good look at whom was up the river. Pace picked up, still humming under his breath until he was level with her across the river. "Greetings."
Justicar lapped up the water quickly as if she'd not had any in a very long time, the memories in her head were bugging her even now but she supposed there was little to be done about that! Even the warmth of the sun felt to be snuffing her out every moment she lingered around. Her ears perked up at the voice coming from across the river and she lifted her sluggish head as quickly as possible, whilst trying to appear more in control of herself. Golden eyes looked less desperate than she was feeling, and with confidence she tipped her head, "Salutations, May i ask- your name? I am Justicar." she rumbled out firmly whilst subtly looking him over to get a read on him, something about him seemed to remind her of something else - something different, "You've come across the Crew's territory." she mentions softly with a smile, it’s a bit deceptive considering how mad the returning crew can be- but not all of them mean badly for others. Syledia was a good honest sort if you showed her proper respect.
Prodigy's dipped his head low, taking in her scent and how the Crew's smell clung to her. "Of course. I'm Prodigy. Miatanae sent me.." He let it trail off, trying to read the other. She looked a little skinny, which worried him. Was the Crew doing that badly? No, surely not. Antics and the others he had seen looked fine! Jaw opened in a wide yawn, revealing the double set of canines gifted to him by his mother, the spikes in his mohawk and facial markings revealed all. Green triangles, intricate markings around his eyes- It was all too obvious he was the son of Naki and Antics. "Well, I finally made it it seems." Without any hesitation he allowed his frame to sink into the river to cool his overheated body. Sure, he was mostly red and white, but he had the thicker fur that came with the lineage of Naki. Slowly swimming across it to arrive on the bank a few feet from her.
Justicar watches as he swims towards her and takes only a few steps back to allow him ample space, "I see. You are the one he went to track down then? Good to see you've made it after all" and she offers him a confident grin, she's a bit skinny compared to her size- which she supposes gives her away, "I don't look like much. But don't worry; the others are all doing just fine. I had a patch of bother but it's sorted now" she chuckles and shakes her head before nudging her head in the right direction, "Follow me, I’ll get you home. I'm in the den right now for the Queen's purposes. Recovering from some dreary luck." and begins to move in the direction of the Crew's den, checking that he follows her at a decent pace before continuing the conversation back towards him, "How have your travels been?".
Prodigy shook off his coat when he finally got to the muddy bank, taking a few laps from it as he emerged. "Yes. I'm just a bit late." Stretching out his muscles, he lowered his chest to the ground with his paws out in front of him, then lowered his hips as his chest rose, getting the most out of his stretching before he replied to her. "Patch of bother.." He tilted his head slightly again as he mumbled it under his breath, then shook his head, following behind her easily. "Has something happened with the Crew? What bad luck?" They were infamously strong, nothing could knock them down at least from what he had been told! He hoped he wasn't coming back to a dying pack.
Justicar felt a bit of a disappointment for this young one, no one deserved to return just to find her sorry ass waiting to bring them back. But there wasn't very much she could do about it. Such was life, "Nyet. Just myself lad. I was avoiding a truly cunning wolf to avoid leading him home- I’d realized my exhaustion was too great to overcome someone fresh like that bastard. So I disappeared a day or so. Didn't sleep, didn't eat. It's done me dreadful but I returned. I always return." a cold glimmer on her face as the grass seems to be dead again, she doesn't realize how dull her eyes have grown as she hallucinates about it. She seems sadder than before, "But nonetheless, Queen Syledia will be happy that you've arrived. I was not gone if she asks? I doubt she will." she murmurs warmly before bringing him up and slipping about, "Keep close. We're nearly there!".
Prodigy didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that he was being led 'home' by her; but he was bothered by how dull the lass' eyes had gotten when she'd started explaining what had happened. Some kind of assassin maybe? They seemed to be spreading like the plague, wolves trying to copy or outclass his father and failing miserably. When she didn't seem to be snapping out of it right away he'd increase his pace, quickly wrapping around in front of her to start walking on the other side, a small tap of his tail on her shoulder or neck was attempted- anything to get her attention back on the present. "I doubt she will." Even though he didn't know the new Queen. "Besides, you were only getting water, right?" he quirked a 'brow,' a smirk on his face as he entered the den and flopped onto a rock just big enough to hold his body with his legs hanging over the sides.
Justicar seemed almost lost for a good few moments as she brought him into the den. Her mind was old and far too haunted for her own good nowadays, The tap of his tail against her snapped her back into her right mind once more as the surprise had her halt for a moment before she continued on into the den and set herself back upon her rock near the grass where Syledia had left her to go hunt. Golden eyes clearly focused once more as she glanced around at the slumbering forms sleeping at different points, "Queen Syledia will return soon. Than you two can formally meet, It might give her a break from me too." she gives him a playful grin when he mentions that she just went to get water, "Aye! And that's the gods honest truth." though her eyes glance back at the water in the den and she feels need to reason it, "The water here doesn't taste as good. And i needed to be out. I hate being inactive after all. It's not suiting for me" she lets out a soft chuckle.
Prodigy shifted his weight until he was lying with his folded front leg supporting him, and the rest of him curled around as he started to relax. He still kept his gaze wandering from form to form, taking in the resting shapes near the back of the den. The grin spread across his face again, nodding at the logic. "Sounds fair and reasonable. " He still couldn't help a chuckle though. "I'm sure it will be an interesting meeting. What is she like? Does she hold her heritage well?" He knew they were related somehow, but not sure how far down the line it was. "She won't freak out that there is a new scent leading right into her pack den..?"
Justicar seems mostly thrilled with his reactions as it seems the lad is very much happy to be around, and with any luck is also going to fit right in amongst the others too. She guesses Miat was very successful with him then. The light chuckle had her ears twitch curiously but at his proceeding questions she took a moment to think of how best to answer him. She doesn't want to come off too bias or reveal any affectionate hope she held, having him know of her pathetic adoration would potentially weaken the queen's image wouldn't it!? And with a smile she speaks some of her mind, "She is a proud Queen. and cares for her subjects. She enforces her law, but unlike her heritage... I'd say she's more patient? Not to the point of being pushed over of course. But I’ve seen great potential in her. Even if she's five years younger than I am!" she cackles softly, "But I’m just an old bad at this point eh?" she pauses, "I'll be here to tell her, and she's bright. She'll know my scent too...” can't prevent the soft look on her face, it pushes a bit too fond as she murmurs on, "She's been expecting you and Miat to return, and she won't jump without answers."
Prodigy seemed a little confused by how happy the other seemed to be. Or maybe happy wasn't the word, but pleased? Well, then again, it was him she was talking to! The apparent legend, said to return to the Crew back into its former glory! Or something... He didn't always pay attention when his mentor was teaching him. "So, so far there haven’t been any deaths or injuries because of mistakes?" While Miat always seemed to speak highly of Nakisai, some of the things he had described set him on edge. He seemed like a ruthless killer, and he couldn't figure how Miat would believe in such a monster! "I'll trust your judgement on that. Your smell very strongly of the Crew. Were you here first, after the queen then?"
Justicar let out a soft sigh as she watched the entrance softly, part of her wondered if that bastard assassin would be able to find his way here eventually. She'd have to take more care and keep a better eye on the den whilst the others were all resting, in case Holster finally flipped his switch and came to collect on any perceived injustice he'd faced. Lowering her head for a moment she lingered on the scents about this spot, the queen's had faded. She didn't sleep here after all- but over somewhere else in here, her face didn't betray her silly disappointment over it, "No, No one has died foolishly or otherwise. No mistakes have really been made that I know of. We know more of Holster due to careful notice." (And a foolish mistake, but that would be telling) and at his inquiry of when she arrived a reminiscent look appears on her face, clearly a fond one. "I came across her territory, she'd been preparing to start 'The Crew' and was happy that original members had found their way here." and she looks at him warmly, "She took more interest in me than most do, and knows me more than Former King Nakisai ever did... But I shouldn't speak him ill. I imagine Miat told you about him?"
Prodigy's crimson eyes stared at her from between the markings on his face, taking in as much information as he could. He was greedy for information, wanted to learn as much as he could about everything in the Crew so he might learn what it was that he was sent here for. A small nod was given, letting her know that he was taking in her information. "Who is Holster?" He inquired, not knowing that Holster was indeed the same wolf-monster thing he had encountered when he first ran into his mother. Prodigy quieted for a moment, watching as her features softened and happiness did hit those eyes. Was there something interesting going on between these two? He'd have to investigate! "Hm.. From what Miatanae told me, he didn't seem to be the type to grow close to anyone. He probably knew his member's capabilities inside out though.. I've definitely heard some things about him."
Justicar's ear twitches a few times and she scratches at it for a moment, its weird to be talking this long with someone other than Syls. Was that a bad thing? Crikey. She was impressed with his capacity and longing for knowledge if anything, his quiet had her concerned for a moment that he'd figured her out- shit? I was not afraid of him. But he was confident- it’s only due to Darais that the assassin didn't strike." she sneers about it for a moment, "He seems to be hiding behind the pseudonym of the fool. So we are careful of him. But sooner or later he must be dealt with" and she lets out a sigh. "Nakisai was ruthless. He didn't care about others."
